Schoenoplectus tabernaemontani (C.C. Gmel.) Palla
soft-stemmed bulrush
Emergent in marshes; edges of lakes, ponds, and slow-moving streams; fens; roadside ditches; and disturbed inundated soils. One of the most common Schoenoplectus in at least parts of New York, it grows in pristine rare habitats like rich fens as well as in disturbed areas. It usually is emergent from perennially inundated soils to sometimes only seasonally inundated soils.
