Characteristics
Clintonia borealis (Aiton) Raf.
blue bead lily
Cool northern coniferous, coniferous-hardwood, and hardwood forests; and hummocks in swamps. Very common understory herbaceous plant in northern and cool forests extending into the sub-alpine. Sometimes after forest clearing or in openings in forests it becomes quite robust and flowers heavily.
