purple-stemmed beggar ticks
A wide variety of wetlands mostly in unshaded areas. Floodplains, marshes, banks of streams, ponds, seasonal pools, dead logs in ponds, and occasionally swamps (often in openings). Along with B. frondosa this is one of the most common Bidens in NY except in our more northern areas. It is often confused with B. tripartita.
