The herbarium vouchers need extra scrutiny as <i>Viola eriocarpa</i> had previously been considered a variety of <i>V. pubescens</i>. Therefore many herbarium records of <i>Viola pubescens</i> may actually be <i>V. eriocarpa</i>.
