Bottomland thickets and forests, forests, edges of forests, roadsides, and disturbed areas. Hesperis matronalis does particularly well in alluvial and richer soils and is becoming very common, some what problematic, and invasive in parts of NY. It is a problematic non-native species in part because it can grow in forested situations.
