Most common in hayfields, pastures, successional fields, and open herb dominated habitats. Also stream edges, shrublands, young forests, openings in forests, and various other habitats. Usually moist to sometimes at least seasonally wet soils and clearly preferring open habitats but occasionally persisting or occurring in slightly shaded habitats.
